Whazzup ProCollabers!

Autumn is here and the leaves are starting to fall, which means Halloween is sneaking up on us too. And along with it, our Haunted Halloween Challenge draws closer to a spooky conclusion. Okay okay, there are still a couple of weeks left – and we must say that we are sooooo impressed with the way the songs are coming along. Chilling indeed! Don't forget to get those entries published in to the Music Library by midnight, October 28th.

Thank you to all the members who jumped right in and took up this challenge (the first of many we hope). You're quite the example of 'true collaboration spirit', which is just what we need around here. So thank you all.

Member Survey

You spoke, we listened. From the recent survey feedback we've already been able to implement a couple of the suggestions that we've received. For example, the key, tempo, and time signature is now visible on the active projects page. And we've also made the PM envelope in the navigation bar red so it will stand out more when you have a message in your inbox. Much more to come, so please continue to give your suggestions!

Those of you who did not take the survey yet, please take 5 minutes to fill it out – it helps us to know what you like, dislike, and would like to see on ProCollabs. Take the survey now.

Beta Testing – No More!

We mentioned in a recent email that the Beta period was coming to an end. Next week we will be sending out an email with more details on what's to come and how things will work. And if you're already thinking about your bank balance, there's no need to lose any sleep, we can tell you right now that the cost of being a member on ProCollabs will be less than the new luxury yacht that you intend to buy when you make it big! But joking aside, we think you will be pleasantly surprised when we announce our membership plans.

As a beta tester and early adoptor on the site, we recognize all of the help and input we've received from you guys in getting this far, and we intend to reward you for your loyalty and support. From the survey feedback, it is clear that our vision for ProCollabs is on the right track, as an overwhelming majority of responders have said that one of the best things about ProCollabs is the high standard of the talent on the site. And we agree! We want everyone to stay and be apart of a wonderful, growing community.

Tutorials and Help

Now that more of our members are starting to complete their projects, it is probably becoming more obvious than ever that ProCollabs is not your run-of-the-mill online collaboration site. We've taken great pain in researching and developing a collaboration process that both protects member's rights, and makes joint ownership and copyright issues as transparent and clear as possible. Not least, when closing a project and assigning copyright splits in the songwriting and the sound recording project directors will start to realize the importance and implications of selecting the most appropriate and suitable Collaboration Agreement when starting a project, and in communicating with collaborators throughout the process. It will surely be a learning curve for some, but is well worth the effort as all collaborators will walk away from a completed project knowing exactly where they stand.

We've recently added three new tutorials that you may find helpful: Completing ProjectsAssigning Copyrights and Assigning Credits. You should also find our previous Collaboration Agreements tutorial very helpful.

Please do take the time to understand the collaboration process and particularly the subject of copyright in a joint work, and how we have implemented it on ProCollabs. This is a key responsibility of any project director.

We also encourage you to contact our moderators for questions, assistance or clarification at any stage of your project. We're here to help you get the most out of the site!

Spread The Word!

Word of mouth counts. Spread the word about ProCollabs, if you enjoy collaborating with others, then invite your musician friends to join. Get them in before the beta period ends and they'll be thanking you for some big savings too ;)

And please do stop by our social media pages and show us some lurve. We're happy that our numbers are growing, but they can triple if you guys can help pimp us too. Below are the links to our Social Media pages.
