Happy Mail Order Catalog Day! No really, that is a thing.
Please lock in your votes for our very 1st ProCollabs Compilation Album. You can vote for up to 3 of your favorite songs that are in the Music Library by clicking here. You can vote as many times as you want, and yes, you can nominate yourself too! It’s anonymous, so no need to be shy about it! The final day to vote is August 31st; please take some time to support your fellow collaborators by voting.
Our ‘In The Style Of’ Challenge deadline is approaching. September 1st will be the last day to submit your song, so please make sure you enter by completing your project and publishing your song into the Music Library, then stop by the Challenge thread and let us know.
Your profile pages just undergone a complete makeover, so go ahead and get creative and pimp your profiles yo! You can customize your banner to best suit your personality and style. But besides being aesthetically pleasing, we’ve added a few new sections to the profiles.
~ Member Dashboard – your dashboard will inform you of notifications, pending approvals for closing projects, projects you’re following (which includes a notepad to jot down things about the projects you are following, i.e “I’ll be recording vocals” or “Remember to audition”. We will be adding more to the dashboard in the near future.
~ My Unique Profile Link – you’ll find that tab on your navigation bar. It’s just a shortcut link to your profile, so you can easily send it to someone or link it. Remember, ProCollabs is a private community, so your profiles aren’t easily found from the outside of the site, especially if your profile is set to ‘private’, so this link will be beneficially if you choose to share it with someone publically.
~ Portfolio – basically the songs in your portfolio are the songs you’ve completed and published into the Music Library.
~ Showcase – on your profile page, you can now add up to 3 songs to display to members & the public. This is especially beneficial for members who have not completed any projects yet, and their portfolio is empty. You can upload a few songs into the Media Library, then add them to your profile showcase.
~ Collaborator Summary – also on your profile page, you’ll see a credits section which displays the talents you’ve contributed to projects. It will also display how many active projects you are in and how many published songs you have.
~ Purpose on ProCollabs – you can get to this section from the ‘edit profile’ tab. This is really important, as it shows other members why you’re actually on a collaboration site. There is a sliding bar that you can adjust to indicate whether you’re here for fun, to work, or maybe a bit of both? You can also select radio buttons which will indicate what you are looking for, i.e ‘looking for lyricists to write with’, etc.
~ Session Work – also in the same section, you’ll see there is an option to add your session work rates. If you’ve never done session work before and are unsure what to charge, you can say ‘negotiable’ or ‘will work for peanuts’. ;)
~ Contact Information - This is for members who want to include their email or contact number. Please keep in mind that the information you include in that section is viewable to the public.
If you’re anything like us, getting a ton of project notifications at 3:00am drives you batty! Now you can unsubscribe from notifications on an individual project where you are either a collaborator or if you are following a project. To change settings, go to the project page and click the switch button under the project title. Note that project owners cannot unsubscribe from their own projects! And Members of an iBand can also not unsubscribe.
We are currently looking at options for providing a digital distribution service to members. This will basically be a service comparable to CD Baby and TuneCore, but cheaper and much more convenient after having completed your awesome projects! So watch this space…
Word of mouth counts. Spread the word about ProCollabs, if you enjoy collaborating with others, then invite your musician friends to join.
