Happy Relaxation Day!

Music Store

Formerly known as the Music Library, the new and improved Music Store is now searchable!

With this new layout and feature available, we encourage all members who currently have songs in the Music Store to please make sure your meta data is correct and up to date. For example, your title, genre, mood, download settings, price, etc. It is very important to set that info so your music can be easily searched and found.

And now that you are in the store, also remember that this is a place where the public can find, like, purchase, and download your songs. So why not take the opportunity to promote your music to your fans, family, friends, and social networks.

On another note, we wanted to bring awareness to everyone who has or intends to put music into the store - that quality does matter!

We are continually trying to promote the site and your music to industry professionals, music supervisors, and other artists who will randomly stop by and listen. We need to keep standards high to positively facilitate these types of interactions. You can help us to help you by only publishing music into the store that you believe to be of a suitable standard.

What is a suitable standard, you ask? Ok, this is very subjective of course, so here are just a few suggestions that might help you to move better music out of the gates:

  • Do take advantage of the more experienced artists, musicians, and audio engineers on the site. Ask questions. Ask for feedback and critique. Use the forums. We are a music community and here to help;
  • Recognize your strengths and weaknesses as an artist. Collaborate with others who have the talents that you need to compliment your own. You can do it alone, but this is a collaboration site, so its ok to share sometimes! Find artists whose talents will positively add to your vision and the resulting production;
  • Get your tracks mixed and master by those who do mix and master. We all work in DAWs and mix our own music. But if you don’t know the difference between 20 Hz and 20 kHz it might be time to find someone who does when it finally comes down to mixing and mastering your finished song;
  • Wondering why some of the pros on the site don’t respond to your invites and messages? Try the work for hire option. You can turn this on at any time in a project by going to the project settings. Not everyone is here purely for the fun of it. Some people really do pay the bills with their talents! Set a price/budget for each talent that you need, and invite them again. Work for hire projects also get promoted in the Lounge area;
  • Don’t complete until it is ready. Publishing a project that you are not 100% satisfied with is a sure way to know that - it’s just not ready. If you are not happy with the results, there is no obligation to sign-off and complete a project. Take it back to the drawing board and recruit help. Don’t just settle. The music in the store represents you and your name as an artist.

Payments Update

We've updated the invoice payments process. Now you can take advantage of making payments using a combination of your Funds cash and credit first, and paying only the balance from your PayPal account.

Want to earn free credits? Look out for the next ProCollabs Challenge, where we regularly give away free credits for participating in a unique musical and collaborative experience!

Project Video Chat Feature

For those who didn’t spot it yet, we’re testing a new video chat service that enables the possibility of face to face meetings within a project space for collaborators. There’s also a general video chat in the Lounge area.

The service is provided by Jitsi and is a fully integrated browser-based solution. That means no downloading of additional software on your computer and sharing of usernames is required. Just click and go.

That said, being browser based, we are seeing that some people are facing issues when using it. Problems seem mostly geared around giving the browser access to use the camera and mic. If you face any problems, or resolve any, please post to the forums so we can investigate and share solutions that we find.

So, if you didn’t try it yet, why not invite a few members into the community chat and test the waters yourself. We’d be interested to know if it worked and whether you like the new feature.

Check out the new video chat feature for your collaborations and let us know how it goes!
