Hi all. Every now and again we have members mention that they are having a problem with staying logged in to the site. When you check the 'stay logged in' option at login, this should mean that you can close your browser and return to the site at a later time WITHOUT the need to login again. If this is not happening for you, we'd like to know about it.

I'm starting this topic as a way to get the input of everyone who is experiencing this problem; so if this affects you, please let us know and help us to figure this out.

So first, a couple of things to consider.
1) The stay logged in period is 30 days. If you are not visiting the site for long periods of time, then you will be automatically logged out anyway;
2) If your IP address changes, then you will not stay logged in. I.e. If you are on a laptop and login at home, then go to the office or different location where you IP address will change, then you will be logged out. If you are only in one place, your ISP may still change your IP address from time to time, but that shouldn't be too frequently;
3) If you are in the habit of clicking the 'logout' button as you leave ProCollabs, then you will not stay logged in!
4) If you are using your browser or phone in 'incognito' or 'private' mode, I believe the browser will delete any cookies (how we remember you) as soon as you close it. So you will always have to log in again.

On the issue of IP addresses, if you are using multiple devices to access the site - for example, a home computer and a mobile phone or tablet - then your devices might be using different IP addresses, which could be the reason you are getting logged out. This shouldn't be the case if all the devices are using the same wireless router, but might be the case if, when you are using a mobile for example, you are using another network rather than your home wirless.. Just a thought, but if this the case for you, then let us know as we will be trialling the possibility of disabling the IP security check and we can see if this solves your problem.

Ok, so if none of the above fit your situation, can you please post in this forum with the following details. And please be as descrptive as possible:

1) Which browser do you use?
2) What is the version of the browser?
3) PC, Mac, Linux, Mobile, Table, Other?
4) Please explain when/how it happens - every time you close the browser, occasionally, in the case, at the office? Etc.?
5) Do you access the site on multiple devices, or from just one?
6) Please cut and paste the domain name (URL) from the browser that you are typing or using when you have the issue. Include the full url, e.g. https://procollabs.com
7) Please tell us if, when you have to log in again, does the 'remember me' option stay checked, or has it been reset?

If by posting here you just realized that you are not on the latest version for your browser, please update your browser first, and see if that solves the issue for you.

For our more techie members, you can check out the cookie situation, and maybe see where they go missing. There should be a 'rememberme=1' and 'username' cookie, and the 'token' cookie which is for the stay logged-in option. All three should be present when you return to the site.

Any additional info you can offer on the scenario will be helpful! Hopefully, we can find the cause of this and make things a lot more convenient for everyone.
